From Alignment to Action: SAVA’s New Vision is Driving Focus and Forward Momentum

When the San Antonio Visitor Alliance (SAVA) partnered with Monumental Strides for a visioning workshop, the goal was clear: bring everyone together to define a shared direction for the future of the organization—and the broader tourism and hospitality community it serves.

The result was a bold 10-year vision to guide the organization forward: To become a recognized leader and trusted ally for San Antonio’s tourism and hospitality industry, driving growth for its businesses and fostering a vibrant, sustainable future for our region.

As Board Chairman Travis Wuest put it, “The biggest value was being able to get everyone on the Board in the same room and on the same page about our long-term vision.”

That leadership alignment has already made a difference. “We rewrote our mission statement and built a supporting strategic plan,” said Wuest. “We all now understand who we are, what we do, and the value we provide.”

Since the session, SAVA has made tangible progress—launching a regular newsletter to strengthen member communication, advancing key programs, and growing its member base. While the team is still tackling challenges, the shared vision has created real momentum by giving the leadership team the clarity needed to identify priorities, tackle obstacles, and lead with intention—a major shift from reactive to strategic decision-making.

As destinations and attractions continue to navigate transitions and competing priorities, SAVA’s story is a powerful reminder: leadership alignment—and knowing where you’re headed and why it matters—is key to making real progress possible.
